lol, How did I get involved in that shit.
EDIT: I just thought of sumtin. We're posting our pictures on a forum full of guys... You see at first we had that girl which Vash took away, the Thailand-chick. What was her name? Melon or something? and after that we had Ayaka (she was hot right? too bad somebody had to scare here away). Then it was fun to post pics because they could tell me how sexy I was. But now it's not fun anymore...

it was fun to post pics because they could tell me how sexy I was. I don't recall that ever happening... we had Ayaka (she was hot right? too bad somebody had to scare here away). I wouldn't blame her after seeing this. Lookin all distorted and ish. Besides, if you look back you'll see that you posted that pic before she came...So who were you trying to get to rate your pic Shad?

Yeah that was her name alright, I remember when Melon used to come around here, and then people would make bad puns about melons which made everyone else act like that captain picard picture that Ronnie always posts. That's right her name was definitely Melon!

It took me a while to find out who Mummy-D from Rhymester is... I don't see such likeliness - I'm way cooler (BTW, I'm 34. "Ohh, what a dino", "where's nursie, ya old fart?", you may say. No matter, I'm used to that, so go right ahead and do your worse!) @dane: for you, I'd recommend the Gimp. Yeah, you may like that!...

Don't worry, I'm no pure leecher, I also seed. Just watch me going at 'em nursies and ya young whippersnappers might learn a thing or two!

and it was only on for three hours a dayHoly crap!!! That's not even the worse of it! Back then we had first to learn Morse code to understand it, then walk in the snow ten miles uphill (and against the wind, going both ways) to the nearest Internet pole!

I don't think you know what you're saying... Do you have a car? Better yet, imagine the expense of a truck an a living trailer (more like an independent habitat and storage module) added, overinflated, and with sketchy supply of parts and services...
I must say that it really is a great aluminium cruiser hull: despite her twin keels' shallow draft she sails upwind like a witch, I can navigate most rivers and ground her in beaches or dry tide anchorages without need to lay out balancing anchors or stands, etc., but...
She's 25 years old, which wouldn't necessarily be bad if she hadn't been so poorly maintained. The engine is kaput (I've been repairing it by stages, but it's not even half way there); the rig is in a precarious condition with a snapped strand on the fore port shroud's lower terminal (I've already changed both forestays and a starbord shroud), I can't afford a new windlass and need to replace the entire electrical system, and much more.
Basically I've put my life savings on her, been cutting even on food - and the rum - to buy parts and am presently stranded on the Caribbean for over nine months now, working as overhaul helper on other cruisers' boars on shipyards (doing unto others what I need to do on my own boat). There are more downsides other than the cost: there's the life-threatening and exhausting hardship of a three-day gale, the bitter cold of being wet by the spray and exposed to the wind at night, the fear of suffering the same fate as Dani (it actually happened to an acquaintance, who luckily survived - but not his cat - and I myself had to make emergency manoeuvres to avoid ramming an unlit fishing fleet of West-African pirogues in a dark night), real life murderous pirates and drug runners wanting a boat, and so many others...
On the other hand, don't let all this get you down if you think you'd like the independent (NOT carefree) lifestyle, the solitude and peace of a soft-rolling sea and a steady breeze on the cheek, swimming with dolphins a thousand miles away from land, going up the Gambia, the Amazon, or the Orinoco rivers or simply being able to move away from noisy neighbours. In the end, all this is worth it for the borderline sociopathic me (most cruisers are either borderline sociopaths or seasonally vacating plutocrats - sometimes both - and the worse of all are we single sailor nut-jobs), but I don't think living on a sailboat to be acceptable to most people.
BTW: those pics were taken in Dakar last year, before I came to the west side of the Big A pond.

Damn man it's too bad whoever had her last didn't take care of her. How's the fishing around there? Good enough to survive off of if your boat was in prime condition?

That it is, although in many places the maritime environment is in dangered. Furthermore, on all these jungle islands there are many spontaneously-growing edible plants used by the native cuisines that are simply excellent.
Anyhow, I can get by. Or should I say, I simply will! "Thus spake the single-sailor nut-job!"
