Note: I'm pretty sick atm, so despite how excited I am about this, I'm still having trouble typing out my true enthusiasm, but I made a promise to get this up today!
After being away from the site and modding, I realized a lot was missing in a lot of mods' roleplays. With all due respect, I took some time to sit back and attempt to compile the best way, at least imo, to run and maintain a consistent Gantz role-playing experience.
Because at first, I was just a regular roleplayer just looking for a Project that mirrored how gantz was. I have yet to see that, and perhaps its impossible, but I hope to get as close as possible to that goal w/ this Project.
Besides that, modding is fun!
Project Metropolis is what I'd like to call "one hell of a manifestation from its past predecessor", Project Eastern, but only to the the smallest extent. In no way will either be so similar that role-players can already know what to expect. I'm merely taking the great aspects of Eastern and building on them.
Project Eastern was my first real Main Project. Unfortunately, it had a plot that was completely erratic, and was thought up as the missions came and went. I'm pretty sure people would hear me shout on the c-box, "oh shit...next mission is going to be raw"; I literally would just think up a mission and a plot at the spur of the moment. Most of the time it was hit or miss, but a lot the time there were endless loose ends and plot holes scattered all about because of this. That alone annoyed the hell out of me and it makes me come to terms w/ the fact that Eastern's demise was inevitable.
I must admit though, that Eastern was in fact one of my greatest accomplishments on here and I always wondered what would happen if it were continued. Some even wanted it to continue, but its far too late now.
However, why not just start over from the beginning, change the setting, refurbish the characters, add in some new characters and tell it in an entirely different way?
But, who wants to read the same old shit?
No one.
This is why I'm taking the liberty of making sure that majority of the recycled aspects of Eastern are just a minor case of Deja Vu in Project Metropolis. Bad guys in Eastern may no longer be your foes and the same can now be said about past allies; a lot of roles have been changed and expanded. Missions of the past have now been expanded and explored deeper with even more different types of aliens and bullshit for the gantz team to be put through.
To call it Project Eastern's sequel or even anything close to it would be far from the truth. Think of it as starting anew...just forget everything.
Some may already know how I mod from Eastern, but allow me to reintroduce the way that I mod. I'm a big advocate on realism and character development. So yes, I kill characters, but other then that I strive to include everyone's characters and I try my best to be as fair as possible when it comes to all my decisions as mod. Sometimes its just your characters time to die. So if you die just make a new character and hop in next mission; its Gantz, get used to it.
If you talk to my NPCs they WILL talk back! Hell, they might even react to you looking at them or just being around them! Everything you do effects my Project in some way shape or form and no plot is set in stone. I wouldn't even be surprised if one of my npcs wished your character back if you left a big enough impression on them.
I'm not saying rping in my Project is easy, but nether is it anything too hard. I'm just saying if enjoy rping your character and don't mind focusing on character development, you'll have so much damn fun in my Project!
Lets say you had a character you were using in Project Eastern. Whether dead or alive, they'll be usable in Project Metropolis. The only catch is that they MUST be an original character and not a "self insertion" character. An example of this would be Dane using his character "Dane" or Jpimpin using his character "Justin". Project Metropolis is all about originality...no self insertion characters will be permitted.
If you have a character that you would like revived, PM me about it and I will dig up your character and allow u to upgrade them to the new template.
The worst thing of all is having a mission only to slow down and dick around in LOG. I will now be allowing Gantzers to participate in Side Hunts where a target will be available to kill for each log. Points will be awarded for successful Side-Hunts.
I've also decided to try something new w/ controllers this time around. If a role-player's gantzer has a controller, only they will be able to see where aliens are on my map as well as the personal messages that Gantz sends about the mission. To make sure only those in possession of a controller can see this, a board will be made and will be password protected.
New! Immerse Yourself in an Entirely Interactive LOG
I for one hate it when I participate in a log that only revolves around what the main plot is about or what my previous action was. Expect to be able to interact w/ anything and everything on the LOG map w/o having me to introduce it or tell you that it exists!
New! Entirely Mapped LOG
As you can see this is just a beta, but all this entire area (in much closer detail) will be accessible w/ no restrictions other then transportation!
