Personally, I liked it. It definitely leaves you hanging and answers absolutely nothing but the whole thing has a hopeless dramatic feel.
Anyone else's views?

The GANTZ anime's ending is the equivalent of having "blue balls" for a couple of hours and then having someone ram a sledgehammer into them. Just a lot of waiting for something good and then pain.

Word. I see what they were trying to do, be artsy and add to the myserty and intrigue of the series, but ep 22-26 were a complete failure.

I didn't get to watch it but I got the minute by minute explanation from my brother (when it comes to anime he speaks like a Tolstoy book). I think there's a lot of weird symbolism and hidden theoretical messages that people miss. Like, gantz dissapeared when Kurono "died" again? Maybe Gantz is Kurono; or some part of him. Anyway... I've gotten into this way too many times. I ain able again =p AND THE MANGA IS BETTER ANYWAY. NO TAE-CHAN = DEATH.

Xrociel: It's just made to look like that, but ti doesn't actually contain any of that stuff. It's just junk.

But from what I've seen the only big difference between the anime and manga is the ending. They did make a couple small changes here and there like making Tet-chan less of a bastard and making Nishi more tragic, but other then that its mostly the same.

Anime was alright (the hunt for the unedited stuff is what acually led me to reading the manga), but the ending just plain sucked.
Total cop out, they didnt want to put in the effort to go through all the other missions and the "Tae" storyline, so they killed everyone off, made GANTZ go poof, and patted us on the head and told us to run along. I liked the little change to nishi, it made his character more interesting, but i have to agree with Xrociel, no Tae = No point.

Yeah, I can agree that the Anime and Manga didn't differ that much, up until after the 3rd mission.
I watched the anime and when it ended, I read the manga, hoping it went on a little longer. I was surprised when it took off in an entirely different direction, but I quickly found this direction a lot better.

I only watched ep. one in TV, and the goddamn cliffhanger... so I said, why not read the manga, it ALWAYS beats the anime (c'mon, say it isn't so) Never watched the anime again, and Im hooked up in the manga. READING ROCKS!

ADV did a bullshit job with the english version, the voices are all wrong and every other word ANYONE including Mr Clean Cut Kato says is fuck. I mean I know this is a mature series so some of that would be expected, but it gets kind of redundant.

The anime sucked, japanese or english didnt matter.
Past the first two missions when they started changing shit for no reason (hey look homeless people, lets make that a whole episode!) i regretted watching. I only kept watching because i had the hope that any minute now they would bring in the shorty aliens.
No shorty aliens, no Tae, fuck that.

I only watched it cause people said it had a kickass opening song and I wanted to see the Buddha mission realized in motion. However, the anime is a big disappointment.
They made some unnecessary changes that made the anime suck ass. Kishimoto is more of a retard and annoyance. They suddenly decided to make one of the biker dudes a hero in the Tanaka mission and so on. And the animation drops off significantly during the Buddha mission. What could have been a great action sequence is ho-hum. And Lara Croft looks yucky.
The ending I didn't even bother to watch.

Kishimotos character actually seems about the same in the anime and the manga. I wouldnt go as far as to call the biker dude a hero, he was just less of a bastard then in the manga, still pretty much useless in the tanaka fight.

Kishimoto seems like such a bitch in the anime. Whereas she thinks not nice things about Kei in the manga, she actually says them to him in the anime which makes her seem so much worse.

The Anime did get me hooked, though. I practically don't read Manga. I watched AnimeOne's release (11 eps) and that really wasn't bad. Then way later I watched W-Dreamers release (ep 14-26) and was really disappointed. Since the ending was so open, I grabbed the manga and hoped it continued after that. Boy, was I glad, when after mission three, things went completely different!
