I want to know whether or not you guys can trust me to mod. As an administrator, I have 1/3 control over the site, and even though I've gotten the nod of approval from Kbell and Shad, I want to know what you guys think. That's why I'm going to lay all my cards on the table and let you know what I have to offer and what you may have to lose rather than force anything upon you guys.
First off, let me address the name of this thread. You didn't read that name wrong, it does say Project Paradox for a multitude of reasons.
Definition of Paradox (par·a·dox) :
–noun
1. a statement or proposition that seems self-contradictory or absurd but in reality expresses a possible truth.
2. a self-contradictory and false proposition.
3. any person, thing, or situation exhibiting an apparently contradictory nature.
4. an opinion or statement contrary to commonly accepted opinion.
So in other words, this Project's focus is no longer on just the enviornment I've created, it includes all of the new ideas that I've sat and pondered and decided to implement into the mechanics and plot. While my project will be influenced by the machanics, it will steer off into an entirely different direction, giving you my own creative spin on Gantz that may contradict everything you may have once been accustomed to.
This will include...
Note: I'm willing to elaborate further on these, but only to a certain degree if asked.
Pros:
Okay, Okay, this is interesting to you, perhaps, but why can't I just go through training and wait like everyone else who applied. I'm not impatient, but I've been given an opportunity to have a lot of time to commit to modding, that wouldn't normally be available to me while in college. Usually I'd be able to update once every two weeks, but now I'm looking at possible once or twice a week or possibly even two updates in a day (dead ass, like the old days!), because I'm only taking three courses this spring before moving in June to live with my Dad in Georgia.
I personally don't think I've gotten rusty, because if you haven't noticed, I've been on a roll so to speak when it comes to what I've been taking care of on the site. If I were to waste time training, I'd be neglecting to take advantage of the valuable time I can invest into modding, especially when we need it now more than ever, and I'd be giving myself a head start before things will slow back down to an update a week when I enroll in a college in Georgia.
And...compared to everyone else in training who needs to learn the craft, Dane aside, I have experience in modding a Project back when the site was at its best! I know what it takes to mod a project and I know how to include my roleplayers and keep them entertained. This is something I think I'll never lose, and it's something you have to witness rather than take my word on.
If my Project were to start we'd have two Projects running, so advertising for new members wouldn't be a bad idea.
Cons:
In the past, despite Eastern's and Metropolis' immersive roleplay, they happened to end up discontinued with the hype that was built up with it. I could come up with a multitude of excuses for why that happened, but I'd prefer to just state the facts.
And despite me showing a lot of enthusiasm while reviving the site, I expect people to question my dedication and where my priorities lie. Statistics show that if I start a project, no matter how good it may be, it'll end abruptly. I also expect people to take this into consideration when voting. I'm asking you to trust me once again, despit the past attempts at modding that show that I've broken that promise more than once.
The place where this Project takes place doesn't exist in reality. That means all the maps will be created by me a long with all of the places. Some might not like this.
A long with the location, the mechanics will occassionally conflict with the site's mechanics. Oku's revealed plot of Gantz origins will be completely overhauled and that too might be disliked by some.
For example, when you kill an alien it will not only explode into gore, but whatever is left of its corpse will dissolve and all that will be left is a colored orb of memory. This orb can be obsorbed by a node in your dominant hand and you'll later have it absorbed by gantz as proof of your kill. Some orbs will be worth more than others and some aliens will drop more than one.
After reading these cons and that example, you might be completely turned off to this Project. You might even call it unrealistic, but my response to that is that Gantz IS unrealistic. I'm just taking what Oku has given and I'm running further with it, because mods are encouraged to be creative, or else every Project is offering the same thing and that's pretty boring in my opinion.
Note: I also would like to add that Project Paradox, if given the okay to start, will be paying homage to Project Intagable (Thanks Defectron!), Project Eastern and Project Metropolis. This means that some characters and Plot will be revisted and retold in a new innovative way that will be nostalgic for old members and very interesting for new members.
So, it's up to you guys. Should I get started on modding my Project or should I wait and go through training?
