Role-Play: Southern Folk
Name: <Bailey>, ''<The Wigger>'', Kyle
Nickname Given By Gantz: "Cinnamon Challenged"
Age: 27
Sex: M
Race (Ethnicity): Caucasian
Height: 6'
Weight: 174 lbs
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Green
Language(s): English
Career: Unemployed
Inventory: In his cargo pant's pockets he is holding his iPhone 5, a plastic comb, and his wallet/keys. He thinks he had a gun he carried loosely on him upon his death, but he made it fall while he was choking.
One Strength: Formerly Military (discharged)
Remember to Answer all that apply:
- How does this strength effect your character physically? Kyle is well muscled, though pretty damn skinny to begin with, so he can't exactly be called strong. However, years of drinking and drug abuse have been curbed through his military training.
- How does this strength effect your character mentally? He is slightly twisted by the sights he saw for his military years, tortured in quiet moments alone from memory of his comrades. As a result, he tends to be extremely loyal to someone he accepts as an ally, psychotically so.
He also has knowledge of how to use firearms beyond the norm. He is likely to adapt to using them against aliens quicker than most, though he probably won't use a unique feature to Gantz equipment due to his familiarity with the "point-and-shoot" mentality. - In what way would this benefit others working alongside your character? (above) + Unless someone was proving himself/herself extreme baggage, he'd be willing to help them out.
- In what way would this NOT benefit others working alongside your character?
(again, continuing from above) The flip side is that he'd be likely to tear em' a new one if so. Less likely if they're a woman. He is distrusting of people in general, and filled with enough hate to have no qualms with killing the aliens in the future. In fact, one could say he enjoys it.
The primary concern for such potential allies is that despite his usual protective attitude of even those he is wary of, there is a breaking point of distrust where he would leave someone for dead rather than help them.
One Weakness: PSTD (psychotic symptoms without suicidal thoughts--at least, for the moment)
The parenthesis is what a mental social worker would tag him with, if he were treated. Of course, Kyle would need to be driven to some pretty far depths to move from "treatment is for pussies" mentality to actually considering it. Drugs certainly don't help, though.

- How does this weakness effect your character physically?
In terms of more actual physical response, Kyle tends to become tense and may become nauseated if reminded of combat, or if it actually happens, in his new life's case. He may feel like someone is trying to control him physically, and "struggle against invisible forces", often stopping whatever he was doing previously. - How does this weakness effect your character mentally?
Aside from the above, Kyle may falsely perceive certain sensations, such as touch or sight. Furthermore, memories of previous experiences will force him to act illogically. He may stray from a group due to a "funny feeling", despite the likely chance of survival with them, or he may explode on someone for acting a certain way (the motion to point a gun at him, for example, would draw physical action).
The worst of this is emotional instability, which is the most frequent of all symptoms in Kyle. He is far more likely to succumb to anger (in practical terms, think of Kei's attack on Thousand Arms in the Buddha Arc that resulted in his ass getting screwed over, or Sakurai's self-destructive manner).
Flashbacks:
Kyle has been shot twice, and as such is very likely to respond to a firearm being in his direction. Call of Duty may make it seem like no big deal due to respawns, but being shot hurts like fucking hell, and Kyle learned that the hard way.
Ally Death is another good trigger for Kyle, though this one may flat out leave him standing at the memory as his mind processes the current situation and the past information. Of course, how well he knew the said ally is a big contributer to this. He may mourn a stranger for a short time, but a close ally will definitely shock him. - In what way would this benefit others working alongside your character?
While naturally loyal, anyone who manages to get past any initial paranoia he has will find an ally that would take a hit for them. Plus, if he is unstable at a certain point, someone can easily lie to him or persuade him to do something a person wouldn't do normally.
His instability actually works to the benefit of cloaked characters, as he makes a bigger target of himself when out of his normal state of mind, which is already fairly reckless. - In what way would this NOT benefit others working alongside your character?
He has an increased chance to betray someone he views as detrimental to others survival. Whereas he normally would have a "leave no man behind" mentality, the persuasion noted above, or an intense situation during a mission may be another factor to drive him to abandon someone to fate or worse.
Furthermore, he is an AWFUL choice for a sneaky kill. If he doesn't kill a target from afar with an X-Rifle, and is instead in the midst of the fighting with X-Guns or a Gantz blade, it is highly likely that he'll make noise or a spectacle that would draw enemy attention.
Appearance: Kyle was wearing a dark blue beanie that covered most of his hair and his usual silver chains. His actual clothes consist of a green hoodie and jeans or cargopants (cargopants as of his first transfer). Face pictured below:
Remember to Answer all that apply:
- Does your character have a preferred style of dress? Typically winter clothes for as long as possible, otherwise Kyle usually hangs around in a tank top with cargo pants
- Does your character appear intimidating, average or preferably approachable at first glance? Kyle wiil be approachable at first glance due to looking fairly laid back.
- Is your character attractive, average or ugly? Average
Personality: While obviously not the brightest person, Kyle is someone who is resourceful and makes good out of a bad situation, even if he doesn't always realize it. From a young age he adored “gangstas”, though he falls more into the "poser" category at most points. Others will call him out on how he can't technically qualify as one -- especially at his age, with most not caring about image by then -- marking him as a bit childish. His attitude? Who gives a shit. Being "raised in da street of a gated community" still had it's faults in his mind.
To some his mentality may seem skewed as a result, however, he is more likely to empathize with others rather than judge them hypocritically due to being similar to him, raised being well off. As a result he is good at viewing things from others' perspectives, though he will usually act on first impression otherwise. Kyle's impulsiveness tends to show in such cases, as he will try to keep things cool between others in favor of figuring out what is going on. Of course, if he is pissed off himself, this tends to be disregarded in full, and others will need to distract him to get him thinking again.
Overall, he can be a pretty shallow person. He does whatever seems cool to him with regardless of the consequences, and damn anyone that gets in his way. In both the case he does something purely for image or from emotion, someone with a silver tongue can usually convince him to rethink his actions, as well as earn his respect. Of course, given his patriotism, there are some situations that he can't be talked out of. When drinking, and he usually does, he can sometimes be somber, which is where he really shows his true colors.
Plagued by regrets of his own mistakes and experiences in the military, Kyle tends to become distressed due to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, of which he is ignorant to. To him, it is just him being overly sentimental regarding what has happened and not letting go, which is true in a sense. However, in Kyle's case, he merely tries to push these thoughts from his mind and focus on just hanging out with friends or resorting to drugs to keep them away. A combination of unresolved issues and drug abuse have made this advance much more than it should have over a mere three years, leaving him with a mild case of PSTD.
In your average social situation, Kyle has a ribald sense of humor and manners. Many ranging from his own age and higher would tell him to grow up and hold a steady job, but due to his overall lack of desire to do anything career-wise he is incapable of this, partly due to some of the substances he uses or has used pre-military admission. He began smoking joint back in middle school, for reference, though not in large amounts. Rehab is out of the question as he has yet to see a professional for help and hasn't gotten himself into major trouble-- not yet, anyway.
Remember to Answer all that apply:
- Is your character shy or are they outgoing? Outgoing
- Is your character a leader, a follower or a balance of the two? A mix of the two
Background:
Kyle was born and raised in the South, raised as a God fearing Christian and filled with joy at the right to own a gun and use it. Of course, he is more culturally mixed in that he'd prefer a baked potato and gravy to french fries, but for damn sure wouldn't turn down some pizza. His great grandpa used to rant about the Yankee War of Aggression at the family gathering during Christmas every year, and although Kyle didn't inherit his elder's racism that was also displayed, as evident in his hobbies.
Regardless, both of his parents had high paying jobs that left him to his own devices, so Kyle grew up pretty carefree and a big spender. Kyle was born with ADHD and asthma, and his father wouldn't go as low to acknowledge a “disability” in his son, therefore he lived with it being a minor annoyance when playing sports when he was younger. Once he got older he got a lot better about this, though.
From elementary to high school admission his life was still a bit rocky, though. While his parents brought him along for cruises on vacation, Kyle couldn't appreciate them properly at the time as he never had many duties to attend to. For him life was all about living in the moment, which carried on to be his future mindset. Furthermore, in middle school, he tried various substances, sometimes in mixture. Of course, once his parents found out, that was the end of that, but he had tried them in small amounts at the time. A few instances in high school and later in life this would come back to bite him in the ass as his gateway to more than just cigarettes.
As soon as he was able, Kyle signed in for the military and went clean, though there was certainly no shortage of recruiters in the area. In the end, he thankfully got the position he wanted, not that he needed a very high score to get it. Kyle grew up loving the idea of fighting for his country and killing the bad guy, Medal of Honor being the greatest game of all time for him until Call of Duty came out in recent years. Infantry was perfect for him. Any training and drug tests were no problem to pass for that!
Unfortunately not as perfect as he would've liked, which he found out soon after his deployment in Iraq. Even with his tendency to be oblivious, he proved himself at least somewhat competent in battle, hence his stay. Of course, he was also caught one too many time on a high. While this is undoubtedly glorified by him upon his return at the age of 24 after being discharged; Kyle never mentions that he actually mourns some of his old comrades who died in the war and how it has affected him.
After his discharge, he spent most of his time doing the same things he did when he was younger, rather than coming back as changed as many do from war. Some might call it his way of trying to forget things, though Kyle would say they're full of shit. Eventually, he got what was coming to him when he took the wrong mixture of drugs, though perhaps he's lucky that he didn't shoot himself instead.
Cause of Death: While on a mixture of drugs, Kyle ignored his normally minor asthma and took the cinnamon challenge to prove how awesome he was in front of some friends.
Death in Gantz: to be filled by the mod
This came from the mere thought of how fun it'd be to RP Ed in Gantz ( I blame James for mentioning the Boondocks to me), or at least try to create an extremely similar/nigh-carbon copy character who happens to live in Georgia instead of Maryland-ish (technically never stated to be there anyway). Yeah, I'd straight out name him after the original character, but there is also the fact that A) it'd take a lot of NPCing to write any sort of LOG, and B) this possibly needs a ton of changing in case unoriginal characters are no longer accepted.
