Ben was born with this ability. She inherited it from her Grandmother, but her Grandmother died before she could be trained on how to use it. Most of her experience with it has been trial and error until she perfected it. She still does not know how to fit in with society with an ability of this nature.
She sees it as a way to do good in the world, but doesn't know when to and when not to use it.
One Strength: Ben is very skilled in making tourniquets that can stop a victim from bleeding out. Her make-shift tourniquets rival that of skilled practitioners.
Remember to Answer all that apply:
- How does this strength effect your character physically? Her hands and fingers are quick and nimble. Thy're also very steady, allowing her to easily tie off a tourniquet in a matter of minutes.
- How does this strength effect your character mentally? When making a tourniquet, Ben is focused, and hardly distracted. The task is second nature to her and can be done regardless of whatever may be going on around her. She is desensitized to blood and gore when working and she is able to tune out everything else around her and focus on the task at hand until it is finished.
- In what way would this benefit others working alongside your character? She is the ideal medic. Those who are bleeding out, can rest assured that she can stop the bleeding. And if she can stop the bleeding, she can then use her ability to permanently heal the wound.
- In what way would this NOT benefit others working alongside your character? If she is focused on tending to one person's wounds, it is very difficult for her to receive instruction from someone else. She cannot multi-task in that manner.
Someone who is aware of her ability and unfamiliar with medical skill may become impatient with her method of healing. They may want her to immediately heal them as opposed to waiting for her to make a tourniquet.
If a limb is severed, and she makes a tourniquet and then heals the wound the victim will never be able to re-attach the limb again. She cannot restore limbs.
One Weakness: Ben has a very low self-esteem and is very naive. This allows her to be easily manipulated into doing things that other people want and motivated into doing selfless acts that put her in grave danger.
Remember to Answer all that apply:
- How does this weakness effect your character physically? She knows she can heal herself, so she values herself much less than others. She'd be more willing to save someone else's life and put herself in danger as long as that person seems worth saving.
- How does this weakness effect your character mentally? In the heat of battle, Ben can easily find herself unsure of whether or not to aid others, save herself or rush in, being that her chance of survival is much higher than others.
This can become an issue, because she will often need someone to decide for her in order for her to make up her mind on what course of action to take. - In what way would this benefit others working alongside your character? Ben can be easily controlled and manipulated due to her indecisive behavior. She is also easily intimidated, in which can also serve as a form of control that someone can use against her. If you can either intimidate Ben or catch her during these frequent instances when she is indecisive, you can easily take advantage of her.
- In what way would this NOT benefit others working alongside your character? Ben can be a tool at times and tends to freeze up whenever she is indecisive. In the heat of battle, her teammates may become frustrated with her inner turmoil and may have to shout instructions at her in order for her to do something.
Appearance:
Remember to Answer all that apply:
- Does your character have a preferred style of dress? Describe it. She wears dark, tight clothing that allows easy movement and concealment in dark areas.
- Does your character appear intimidating, average or preferably approachable at first glance? Ben is anything but intimidating. She isn't very approachable either. She's more invisible than anything.
- Is your character attractive, average or ugly? She isn't considered very attractive by most due to her low-self esteem that is a major turn off.
Personality: She is a very emotionally unstable being, that tends to allow herself to easily be used and manipulated by others she either fears or is naive enough to trust. Once that trust is lost with her, she will refuse to aid those unless threatened enough. She also tends to cry and complain a lot. She relies on others to tell her what to do, and her favorite phrase is, "What should I/We do?"
She also happens to have a dark sense of humor, in which she uses to scold herself for her mistakes in life.
Remember to Answer all that apply:
- Is your character shy or are they outgoing? Very shy.
- Is your character a leader, a follower or a balance of the two? Follower.
Background:
She was born in Savannah, Georgia. Her parents were divorced at an early age. Her mother had custody over her until she died in a car accident leaving her to live alone with her very sick grandmother. Her grandmother had the same abilities as her, but refused to use them on herself or anyone else. This lead to her grandmother's demise, and she vowed to use her abilities, even though her grandmother advised her against it.
With her grandmother deceased, she was forced to move to Atlanta to live with her drunk of a father. When sober, her father was like any other father a girl could hope to have, but when intoxicated he would beat her. She figured it was because she favored her mother's looks, and perhaps that was why they were divorced to begin with.
Every night that he drank, he would beat her, and she would use her ability in secret. This allowed her to master her ability, and sickeningly enough, her father would awake from his drunk stupor and be none the wiser of his actions.
Eventually, Noelle moved onto healing animals such as dogs, cats and birds. She would do this in abandoned buildings where she was sure no one would find her. However, she was wrong. Her safe haven of malpractice was disturbed by two of her high school peers, Elijah and Skyler. Apparently, when she healed a bird, it alerted them to her presence. When they found her they told her that they were on a ghost hunt and questioned why she was there.
She lied, and told them she was also looking for ghosts. She also said that she could sense them. Luckily enough, they weren't suspicious of what she was actually doing there and they recruited her into their ghost hunting team.
For now, her life had meaning...and it didn't have to do with her ability.
Cause of Death:
After capturing a ghostly apparition on film, the trio rode home together. Whatever Noelle and Skyler saw, Elijah had missed it. During the drive home, Skyler and Noelle attempted to rewind and play back the footage for Elijah who begged to see it while he was driving. What he saw distracted him long enough for him to lose control of the car. They were then hit by an oncoming car. Elijah along with Skyler peers were killed instantly...
Noelle on the other hand had survived the crash.
She crawled out the wreck, battered, bruised and broken. She was unable to stand, and was coughing up blood. She looked back in the wreck and saw the mangled corpses of her team. She was indecisive on whether or not she wanted to live or die, and she paid the ultimate price for it. She hesitated in healing herself, and passed out from blood loss. She then died soon after.
