''I'm just going to lie down''
Myooji had flewn to his home to take care of his own and Byrd's wounds. A colossal cave that made the huge dragon look small.
''Myooji-sama, how did I end up like this?''
It wasn't that Byrd had lost his memories. He wasn't referring about his wounds. The dragon, wise as he was, didn't interfere with the outspoken thoughts of the man lying on the ground.
''For 2000 years, I've been killing for reasons that I can't understand. I was the most powerful being on this planet, but now I couldn't even take care of an alien. Up until now I at least had a place.''
a little boy was up on a hill looking at a man hanging on a crucifix.
''Daddy, why is he up there?''
His father growled at him. It was clear he was upset and was not able to utter a word without bursting in tears.
Byrd woke up. He was lying on the same place. But now the sun was rising. Myooji was nowhere to be found.
''I found out what that man did to deserve such a terrifying death that night. He stood up for a woman who was being harassed by a soldier. I wondered why he would risk his life for someone who he didn't even knew. How foolish...''
His wings expanded. He took flight. Hours later he arrived at New York City. Even though it was just 5 AM the streets were already packed. From the Empire State Building he could see the emptiness of the skyline without the Twin Towers.
''I'm no better than them. They did what they were told out of fear of their God. I do what I'm told out of fear of death, out of fear of Gantz, my God...No more! You hear me? NO MORE!''
He twitched. A ring echoed in his head and disappeared. A warning. The powerful warrior that could survive X-Guns was on his knees dripping with sweat in no more than a second. He never felt such a pain.
''I understand why that man was a hero. He did the right thing, despite his fear. He was brave, because he did the right thing. I want to be brave!''
The ringing returned. This time however it didn't disappear. It grew more and more.
''I'm not a slave anymore. I wont do wh...''
Before Byrd could finish his sentence his head exploded and his body fell down from the Empire State Building down to the packed streets, splattering all over the place. The Watcher was dead.
